SABA Colorado: Three years strong
Now in its third year, the South Asian Bar Association of Colorado (SABA-CO) continues its events, programs, and mentorships. SABA-CO was also awarded the bid to host the 2013 NASABA (North American South Asian Bar Association) Leadership Retreat (as reported in Law Week Colorado), which will bring some of the most prominent South Asian lawyers to Colorado for a three day retreat.
With the assistance of three others, Neeti lead the creation of the SABA-CO. Launched in late 2008, Neeti served as SABA-CO’s founding president until January 2011, when SABA-CO experienced its first handoff in leadership.
SABA-CO is a local chapter of the North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA) and has an estimated 40 members. Two of its most popular platforms are the mentorship program and the Chai Chat series. The mentorship program matches law students and young lawyers with seasoned practitioners to provide guidance in navigating the development of legal careers. Chai Chat is an informal gathering to build camaraderie among SABA-CO members. Simply put, lawyers enjoy chai while chatting about whatever’s on their minds.
